Colin Powell's Achievements and his Impact Today
Colin Powell has won several awards in his service in the Military and our National Government. He has won the Soldier's Medal, a two time recipient of the Legion of Merit, a Defense Superior Service Medal, Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal, Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, two Army Distinguished Service Medals, and four time recipient of the Defense Distinguished Service Medal! He has been the Secretary of State of the United States, been an assistant to the Department of Defense, was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and has made his way up through the ranks of the Army, all the way up to a 4-Star General.
Colin Powell has been a figure for African-Americans all across the Globe aspiring to be in the military or politics. His successes have broadened the playing field, not only for African-Americans, but for any minority. He has allowed many other people to follow in his footsteps, like Condoleezza Rice, Barack Obama, Tim Scott, a member of the House of representatives, Regina Benjamin, the 18th U.S. Surgeon General, as well as many more people. He has created a wider field for African-Americans in politics and the military than when he started in both of the fields, which was one of his goals.

These photos are showing Colin Powell giving another speech, and also him in a very in-depth conversation.
